The top-most models of the entry-level sport sedan market consist of three German-made vehicles that have ruled the roost for decades. So as one might guess, breaking into the game is difficult, especially for a new automaker like Hyundai’s Genesis brand. But apparently they’re capable of great feats of magic. According to Autoblog, not only is the 2019 G70 a good sport sedan, but it will definitely give the Germans something to sweat about.

On the one hand, it looks the part. A long hood, short overhangs, and swept back green house are all staples of a sport sedan. As is the high quality material and tech found within it’s spacious cabin. But where the G70 really excels is on the road, where it puts all 365 horsepower to good use for a 4.7-second vault to sixty. In between, it’s all fun, with selectable driving modes tuning the car to be comfortably plush, or rigid and alive like a coiled spring. There’s a sense that the G70’s steering offers enough feedback to compare favorably to a certain Bavarian benchmark.
